SUSTAINABLY PRODUCED COFFEE

The consumers have become more conscious regarding the environment we live in and the products we produce and consume. The standards of sustainable development create a basis for a responsible and environmentally friendly business.

We at Unison Coffee take part in the responsible trade and use only UTZ or RF (Rainforest Alliance)certified products.

UTZ/RF certified product has been grown/produced according to specific standards that set the guidelines for better cultivation systems and working conditions as well as for better nursing of nature and future generations. Attending to these rules is being supervised by independent inspectors who make regular inspections on the farms.

The ethical rules are based on the model of continuous improvement where at first (The first year as a UTZ/RF certified producer) the farmer needs to fulfill the central requirements regarding safety, managing the farm and accounting, staff and environmental protection.

More detailed requirements are added during the years that follow, so that the farmers can improve their act and develop over time. The rules are examined at least every five years.

The certification does not end in the farms; all the coffee that leaves the gates of the farms continues its journey through UTZ/RF certified operators all the way to the customer's cup. To have the right to use the UTZ or Rainforest Alliance symbol, every operator needs to fulfill the requirements regarding the organization and go through an external independent operator's audit and acceptance to UTZ/RF certified operators.

This helps ensuring the utmost transparency in the whole supply chain.
